Welcome to Ravenscote Community Junior School
Ravenscote Community Junior School provides an engaging and stimulating environment for its children and the community that it serves.
We are proud of our happy, friendly school where all staff and governors work hard to provide the best possible start to school life.
Our learning community is underpinned by our vision statement:
Engage, Enrich, Excel
At Ravenscote we encourage each child’s sense of individual worth – developing the child’s capacity to live as an independent, self-motivated person in the realisation of his/her potential.
We are an extension of the local community, and, with your co-operation as parents, your child has a unique contribution to make and we hope that we shall all find much to discover, share and enjoy together.

Day 4 PGL
Today has been full of challenges, and as the week goes on some tasks are harder due to the children getting more tired. I am predicting a very quiet coach journey home tomorrow!
The weather has been cooler today but this has not stopped us all from achieving on a number of levels. We have been abseiling, raft building, skiing, canoeing and much much more. Today lunch was pizza which was welcomed by everyone on the trip. As the week has progressed the children have been eating more and more, recognising the need for food.
Over the last few days we have had the exciting experience of going to the shops – some bought more sweets as the ‘pick and mix here is the best ever’, as one child put it! Others bought gifts for home – gifts that I’m sure will be treasured forever.
Excitement is building as tonight is the disco – the biggest dilemma is how to do your hair without a hair dryer (this is mainly from the boys)!!

Day 3 National Shower Day!!!
Today the weather has been stunning and to celebrate we declared National Washing Day – everyone had to have at least one shower today – a task which has still been a challenge for some, however I am pleased to say that we have all achieved this.
There have been lots of targets today – to apply lots of sun cream – to drink three bottles of water – to be on time – to remember our hats – to try not to eat too many sweets and to soak Mr Simmons and Mr van Vurren in the canoes!!! All targets achieved!!!

Day 2 PGL

What a day! We awoke to a wet site which has been drying all day due to the sunshine. Last night went well and some children were so keen to wake up they were talking from 5am – such enthusiasm for challenge is remarkable, but not always appreciated.
Breakfast was a dream – lots to eat and very quiet!! The first round of room inspection was impressive in some cases and interesting in others – some chalets were particularly fragrant – many a child’s target for tonight is to leave the small window open!
The activities today have been excellent and the staff here have been fabulous – there are only 300 children on site so our group is everywhere. Tonight the sun is shining and the sea look great from the top of our hill. Our first group went skiing today and it was a great decision to do this activity – a real opportunity for all involved – I cannot wait to see which teacher is named after Eddie the Eagle!!!
